International Student Requirements

smiling student leaning against a bench The UC Davis Pre-College Program provides an extraordinary cultural and academic opportunity for international students. Because our pre-college program is academically rigorous, participation requires a very high level of English proficiency.

In addition to the standard application requirements, international students are also asked to submit language proficiency exam scores, such as TOEFL or IELTS. Additional information about this requirement can be found in the online application for international students.

Once admitted into the UC Davis Pre-College Program, students will be required to submit additional materials for registration, including:

  • I-20 Request FormUC Davis assists non-U.S. citizens in obtaining F-1 student visa status. (You may not attend the UC Davis Pre-College Programs in tourist visa status.) An I-20 request form is the necessary first step for obtaining F-1 visa status.
Please note that there may be fees related to your I-20 and visa processing that are not paid to UC Davis Continuing and Professional Education and that are not included in the program costs listed on our website.

  • Certification of Finances
According to U.S. federal regulations, we must obtain certification that students have adequate financial resources to provide for their expenses while in the program. Please note that international students are not eligible to receive scholarships at this time.

  • Health Insurance
Students will need to provide proof of health insurance coverage or will have the option of purchasing coverage through UC Davis Extension, at a cost of approximately $200.

International student registrations are subject to a $250 service fee to cover special processing.

International students are encouraged to apply by the regular application deadline, April 16, 2018, to ensure time for visa processing. Late applications will be accepted but because visa processing time varies, the UC Davis Pre-College Program cannot be responsible for guaranteeing completion before the program start date.

Admitted students will receive additional information, the required forms, and submission instructions along with their notice of acceptance into the UC Davis Pre-College Program.
